Replica Conversion Diary

English Version

In our reconstrution, we would like own diary project to introduce to you.

The beginning:
The replica project started in 2003.
In order to describe it exactly: Actually it all started with the purchase of a scanner on eBay.
This was not an ordinary cheap commercial scanner, as he was always available on eBay / is..
But a replica of the build-in scanner from K.I.T.T. . With Scannerbar and Controllbox ( All light`s on -though not yet ).
Back then i owned a Toyota Corolla (a truly unique and reliable vehicle) and i had the idea to install the scanner in this vehicle.
What is left to me but because o the size of the Scannerbar was denied.
Disappointed i sat one evening on the computer and searched again on eBay..
It occurred to me ( illway) to purchase a suitable vehicle for the scanner..

No soonersaid that done....... Bidding and 3...2..1. Mine........
As it turned out with a buy obstacles.

The vehicle :
The vehicle, a 1991's Pontiac Firebird 3.1 L was paid after the purchase, picked up at the Dutch border and drove to Bonn.
The journey was easy.
However, as is exhibited lord: Wafen jumped to the not always.
A new battery should fix the problem ....
However, the problem was the starter. This was the second after the battery replacement part, extended to follow.

Getting Started:

Formula Hood :

Problems / defects

3 U.S. workshops could not move the vehicle to drive.
Only a tip from a ADAC employee who brought the car to a further U.S. workshop, had the desired success.

Unbelievable. I met Gerd (a professional in his field) know. Gerd amazed me not only because he was working with only one arm at such a car, but only after thoroughly looking up the vehicle (after replacing a small spare part) back to life. Three workshops (probably had a lack of expertise) and a lot of money later lie again the car. And the replica is very grateful to date.






And on it goes:
More parts followed -
The rear spoiler (the so-called beer bar) was renewed against the D 80 spoiler.
The side mirrors (fly swatters) were restored to the original electric mirrors.
The fenders were bought used. Reworked, painted and assembled.
Air extractors included.

By coincidence, I fell into the matching rims 15 "in the hands.
Step by step was the conversion of the Firebirds to a detail faithful replica.
And the acquired Knight Rider Replica Frontnose.



Pmd's
Gradually, followed by many more steep.

The sail panels were reupholstered. The Tan uses parts.
A 82's bought and painted center console in tan.
The headliner in the same fabric as the Pmd's relative and reattached.
The taillights were stained black (permitted as 96 percent light transmission).



The emergence of VWeirauch-Parts:
For interior and exterior remodeling products from many manufacturers were bought and sold worldwide.

Visitor:
For the conversion diary probably count the numerous visits that KITT and we have received.
Probably the farthest resident visitors came from Australia.
Ned and his parents visited us on your trip to Europe.
Ned is an absolute fan of Knight Rider and had planned an extra day of travel with his family to Wiesbaden.
For all of us a beautiful day unforgettable.

Visitors are always Welcome.
We have experienced many wonderful days with visitors.

Further expansions

After developing its own products, the scanner was 2 times changed.
(For an own developed scanner, with 14 programs)
Hubcaps installed. Rearside deflectors installed. Overhead console installed in the sky. The dashboard, which I had purchased from another provider replaced with one of their own.
At the time of replication is 82 Rearbumper's painted and mounted on the vehicle.

New doors fitted
The replica was picked up today. This was now almost 10 months in a body shop.
The work carried out on parts VWeirauch Rearbumper were satisfactory.
Unfortunately, this behaves not conducted with the other works.

But most importantly, our replica is finally back and got one today also missed direct care of our team.

82`s center console
The renovations continued.
It was replaced the original center console (1991) against a 1982`s original center console.
The 82`s was previously painted center console at my request two-toned.
This was a direct fit of the so-called round-mounted shifter knob.

Door panels and screens
Small fine details done.
It is not so very easy to get the correct door panels.
However, thanks to friends from the U.S. and my friend Pierre, and Danny, were these little details are implemented.
Driver's door and passenger door are now completely re-edited. The new Door panels covered with fabric and the fabric adapted to the interior furnishings. The entire interior is now composed of exactly the same fabric. Electronic seat adjustment
About 5 years ago I had already purchased the Electronic seat adjustment with Phillip B. and stored.
Since the interior is now so far away was paced, it was near the driver's seat with this PMD electronic equip adjustment.

The interior work is progressing.
On 01.08.2010 now could very freshly made rear seat / seats are reinstalled in the replica.

Door panels, sail panels, T Top Heaven, PMD seats and rear seats are now in the same uniform material and color have been revised and re-referred.
The interior shines in a whole new sheen. The complete interior looks as the vehicle came fresh from the treadmill.

Because of the restoration work carried out so far and the reconstruction measures an appraisal was conducted on the vehicle by an expert / consultant.
The replica has to increase the value of a total amount of 25,000 €

The work is not yet complete, but we are very proud of what has been done to date.

Ned, KITT `s visit from Australia has signed up for another visit this year.

K.I.T.T. gets distributed over the year, many visitors.
At 21:08:10 we visited Stephan and his two sons. All three are fans of the series Knight Rider, and had, on this sunny day over 400 km journey made to yourself to visit our replica.
Again, we experienced a very nice day with our visit.

The replica has new license plates.

Ned `s second visit


We just have to experience an incredible weekend.
K.I.T.T. connects and brings people closer together.

We then took the two visitors at Frankfurt airport reception.

2011
A new year has just begun remodeling and new measures are implemented at the replica.

A proud moment and a day to celebrate.

Ned `s third visit - Or:" The Hoff is back "concert in Frankfurt in February 2011

A third visit our friends from the land "Down Under" was made on 11.02.2011.
Ned had in 2010 I learned that David Hasselhoff would go on tour.
His parents met your son, the great desire to see David Hasselhoff once allowed to live; worried where these cards.

As a concert was held in Frankfurt, it was logical to pay us another visit and this can be combined with each other.
Ned and his parents visited Wiesbaden for 3 days.
Together with Ned, his father and me, and Kitt, we went to the evening concert.

The show was great. The audience was from the first second of it. It was sung, danced, and a great atmosphere spread.
People of all ages were gathered in the hall.
And David Hasselhoff rocked the stage. Rested and in top shape. Super!

We managed three, even David Hasselhoff in person to meet backstage. A Huge Thanks to a certain person who allows this to us. Many Thanks.
An absolutely unforgettable evening.
Ned `s greatest dream come true here. And I am very proud and very grateful that this has been possible.
For him, these experiences, as he himself said, one of the greatest in his life.

Very funny it was when we drove home from the concert. We drove off and passing a large amount of concert-goers.
A few meters (about 100 meters) in front of this group, I went right to the curb around the Navi correct.
In this moment of passing the crowd cheered for Kitt. When we stopped the crowd began to grow faster to reach putty. Kitt calls were getting louder and stronger.
Unfortunately we had to go further and saw how many people are still trying to get putty. I regret that we did not have time for it.

February 2011 renovation of the office's VWeirauch-Parts
February it was time for a new look in our office.
It was removed wallpaper and carpet. Discarded furniture. 5 days worked hard and hard.

2/16/2011 scanner replacement
On this day, the scanner has now finally exchanged our latest model.
A couple of different selection programs have been filmed for the test.
You can see the new scanner and a small selection of programs.
The test was conducted with 35 watt halogen bulbs, which are also perfectly adequate during daylight.

Birthday Surprise

From distant Austria, with a little over 7 hours How should a child with a birthday visit to KITT will be surprised.

Our replica is managed very intensively cultivated. This fall also repairs and maintenance.
